Jumbo, FIBC, Big Bag, and Container Class: Understanding the Differences

Jumbo, FIBC, Big Bag, and Container Class: Understanding the Differences

Nowadays, in the international circulation of goods, transporting goods by container is increasingly essential. For the export of agricultural products, minerals, chemicals, etc. of Vietnamese enterprises, the common method is to use pp bags or jumbo bags to pack goods with a load of 500kg – 1 ton/jumbo bag. Then put into container for shipping.

However, for jumbo bags using the above shipping method, special attention should be paid to a number of issues to make the process of putting bags into the container easy.

As an experienced jumbo bag supplier, Minh Anh Packaging Company would like to send you some notes when choosing the size of container jumbo bags as follows:

1. It is necessary to pay attention and understand the inner size of the type of container that you will use.

There are 3 types of containers commonly used for jumbo bags with the following parameters:

Standard 20-foot container
This type of container is common in sea freight.

Dimensions: Width 2,352m x Height 2,395m x Length 5,898m.

Standard 40-foot container
As a widely used container, usually the length of a 40-foot container will be twice the length of a 20-foot container.

Dimensions: Width 2,350 m x Height 2,392 m x Length 12,032m

HC (tall) containers: Same width and length as standard 20-foot and 40-foot containers, but with a height and 2,585 meters

2. Desired jumbo bag load and number of layers when loaded into the container
Normally, there are 2 methods of loading the container, which is to stack 2 rows, each row has 2 layers of jumbo bags from the inside out. Thus, the container cross-section will have 4 square jumbo bags to ensure that the bags fit tightly to create stability during transportation and must have the necessary clearances for the loading and unloading process.

In addition, for bags of high size, usually from 1.8m – 2m, we arrange 2 rows of 1 layer from the inside out. Thus, the container cross-section will have 2 bags stacked next to each other.

Depending on the density of the product contained and the layering of the jumbo bag in the container, we have the size corresponding to the bag load. Normally, depending on the product, we have jumbo bags for containerized goods with loads of 500kg, 650kg, 850kg and 1000kg.

Note: For jumbo bags containing agricultural products, grains such as jumbo bags for coffee, jumbo bags for rice… There should be a space on the ceiling of the container so that when the particles evaporate water under hydrolysis, the percentage The water in the air condenses and falls on the bag causing mold or sprouting

3. Note the difference in size of Jumbo bags before and after packing

For export containerized jumbo bags, Customers need to provide information to the jumbo bag supplier for advice and warning about how many centimeters can bulge after packing the jumbo bag, Is it safe to close the container easily?
